Eric Koston “Flying Pizza” for Esquire Russia

Eric Koston was in Russia a couple months ago ripping through Red Square and doing interviews with RT News (see bottom). He also teamed up with Esquire Russia for a puzzling photo shoot involving pizza, a couch,  some X Box and a pretty lousy photographer.

Details are skinny on the origins of this creatively, but while Koston held down the fashion tip rocking “LanvinDior HommeHenrik Vibskov and an array of different Nike SB Koston pro models,” whoever got paid to capture the skate action must have been wearing hand-me-downs.

It’s always interesting to see non-action sports photogs capture imagery of skaters and snowboarders, etc. Typically rife with guy in the sky and/or early/late shutter moments, the images just make the action look goofy and inconsequential. It’s akin to taking a photo of an Olympic platform diver after he’s halfway in the water. In our opinion the folks at GQ who recently shot Nyjah Huston all dudded up at Venice skatepark did it better.
