Forget Flying Tomato – Meet “Scorpion King”

“Wait – you’re calling me what now?”

Shaun White won again… blah, blah, blah… but wait! Not just blah, blah, blah. White actually had to work for it this time!

In the first run of slopestyle final #1 at the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain, White got worked on a nasty crash. Coming in hot into the second jump, Shaun Roger attempted a corked thingamajig and totally came up short, catching his toe edge and eating snow like a pre-pubescent ginger in the school-yard.

At first he looked like he’d been knocked the fuck out, but he pretty quickly sat up – albeit dazed and confused. Ultimately he came back to win in the second final like the God damn champ he is, showing his true red (hair), white and blue colors and clinching a spot on the USA Olympic team (‘Merica)!

For this incredible effort he no longer is the Flying Tomato in our book (also thanks to the New York Times) … rather the “Scorpion King!”

Long may he live!
