2015 Fiji Pro – Day 4 Highlights

Day 4 of the 2015 Fiji Pro saw amazing performances by the likes of Joel Parkinson, Julian Wilson, Dane Reynolds and especially Owen Wright, who scored two perfect 10s to achieve a perfect heat score, only the seventh time that has been done in competitive surfing history.

Four-time Fiji Pro winner and 11-time world champion, Kelly Slater, was eliminated after losing both his Round 4 and Round 5 heats. Slater trailed Julian Wilson and Taj Burrow in Round 4 and Italo Ferreira in Round 5. Slater could not ind a wave despite his best efforts in challenging and shifting conditions.

Slater was a bit dismayed after being eliminated. “Italo didn’t surf a great heat but he got me. I just fell on everything and left the door open. I was out of sync all day. the heat with Julian his 9.93 I had priority but was 10 feet too deep. Then I had priority and took a wave and it wasn’t good and turned around and he took the next one and got his next 9… I was frazzled and in the end didn’t need a big score,” he said.
