Best Powder Boards of 2016/2017 – Rome Mountain Division Review

The Mountain Division is more a do-it-all deck than a niche collector’s board. Its minimal directional shape, positive camber, firm flex, and bold build make it capable of charging in all conditions and terrain. We found this board competent in powder, yet its stiffer flex and cambered profile lent confidence in chunder.

Rome’s Free-The-Ride camber design puts positive camber from the tail to the front binding, then blends to a flat, then rockered profile in the nose. This gives riders control and power at the back foot, with the buoyancy needed in powder at the front. Two carbon fiber tubes, embedded in the core from the bindings toward the tail, along with Zylon material in the tail, amplify response, pop, and stability—even when the nose is wheelie’ing above fresh snow. At the center of the board is Rome’s AirPop Core—their lightest design yet, composed of a multiwood construction with air pockets for a flyweight feel underfoot. For hard-charging riders who want a board to do it all, the Mountain Division is the answer.
