The stars are vibrant, the oil lantern flickers inside the tent. Every breath is visible. It’s well below freezing outside, and it’s so quiet, it seems as if there isn’t another soul for miles. Only Mick Fanning and two photographers, Emil Sollie and Mats Grimsæth, are around to witness the scene.
