Owen Wright Surfs Cold Bells Beach to “Warm Up” For J-Bay

Aussie surfer Owen Wright had to switch major gears from the warm tropics of Fiji, where he won last month’s Fiji Pro, with two 20-point heats, to tackle the foreboding winter cold of Bells Beach in South Australia, which is gripped in mid-winter cold.

Like Bells, South Africa’s Jeffrey’s Bay is a long right-hand point break, blessed with cold water and lots of sharks, so it’s the perfect spot to do some wetsuit testing for Rip Curl and practice his backhand attack.
