Latest NOAA El Nino Forecast Is Promising for Sierras
A combination of factors including a warm water blob in the north Pacific and the strengthening of the El Nino effect in the eastern Pacific could setup a “better than average” winter for the west coast, which may include heavy rain, snow and surf. That said, NOAA is reluctant to guarantee anything. In fact they claim that along with increased precipitation western storms could also be warmer than average, so lower elevation ski resorts could see rain and no snow. Bummer!
It’s really all TBD on who’s going to get what and where or when but the folks at NOAA seem to be the go to source of credible info. So put down the Farmer’s Almanac and take it from the experts.
With any luck you’ll be getting barrels at Steamer Lane and blower pow at Mammoth. Pray for snow.
