Is Roller SUPing The New Sport to Save Surfing?

It seems that lately surfers are bored… with their boards that is. Increasingly the world is putting out new derivations of the classic approach to riding waves. Not content to stand sideways and feel the freedom of wave riding under bare feet, ocean lovers are turning to unconventional means to interact with Mother Nature.

Be it on-water jousting, skiing down the face of Jaws or riding dirt bikes at Teahupoo, the creativity of these enthusiast inventions never ceases to amaze. Add to that the emerging sport of “Roller SUPing,” akak – riding waves on stand-up paddle boards while wearing your best pair of classic roller skates. And while we’re quite confident this sideshow won’t end up on as a World Surf League event, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the Olympics.
