In the wake a powerful winter storm, riders from around the world lined up to perfect conditions atop one of the most impressive slopestyle courses ever constructed. Starting with a technical rail section leading into a pair of sizable jumps, riders then prepared for an inventive midsection of jib features before speeding into the final two show-time kickers.
All in all, it was a course that allowed for a well-rounded display of the competitor’s skills.
While many snowboarders slid out on the landings of their more technical moves, it was Olympian Mark McMorris who on his first run dominated the competition.

Dropping into the upper section, McMorris showcased his rail skills with a hard way Cab 270 lipslide before launching a stylish Cab double cork 900. But the show wasn’t over there as the legend in the making flew over the next rail section spinning into a frontside 450 blunt slide. As McMorris pumped for speed towards the final jumps he effortlessly floated a switch backside 1260 before landing a mind-boggling backside triple cork 1440. With such a perplexing display of talent and style, the judges awarded him accordingly with a podium topping 94.40.
As the competition moved into the second heat, riders were hard pressed to top such an impressive showing with Norwegian Ståle Sandbech coming the closest in a run highlighted by a cab 1260 and his own backside triple cork, enough to land him a well earned 90.00.
Darcy Sharpe Finishes Third in Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle Dew Tour Breckenridge
Young Canadian, Darcy Sharpe took third with a score of 87.00, and also won Friday’s Dew Tour Breckenridge Snowboard Streetstyle. With a technically driven display including an impressive Nollie backside tail slide to 270 out on the middle rail, Sharpe is a kid to keep an eye on.
As the final rider of the competition and with no one left in contention, McMorris then celebrated his victory lap with stylish maneuvers seldom seen in competition including every snowboarders favorite trick, the method.
“Nothing is better than a victory lap,” said an exhilarated McMorris after finishing his fun run.
“The crowd was great and the course was awesome,” he continued, before summing it up with, “When you are able to do a method in a contest and still win, it’s a good day!”
