Crossing the Grain – Celebrating 25 Years of Arbor
Crossing the Grain Documents 25 years of Arbor Snowboards
In 1995, two friends launched Arbor. The mission? To make environmental conservation the guiding principle in the production of their snowboard and skateboard products. Arbor is the first action sports brand founded with a focus on sustainability. Arbor is also the first action sports brand to donate a portion of sales to conservation. Now, at its 25-year anniversary, the Arbor Collective releases “Crossing the Grain.”
The story of how Arbor got from this idealistic start to the brand it is today has never been told. The film details how Arbor’s founders, Bob Carlson and Chris Jensen launched the company. The did so as outsiders with a purpose into an extremely crowded mid-90’s market. It documents the company’s struggles to find acceptance and success, as the industry consolidated in the early 2000s; to building a unique, collective path forward; to eventually earning a place as one of today’s the most innovative and enduring snowboard and skateboard brands.
The Arbor Mission Continues…
“As we look to the next 25 years. Our ongoing mission is really about sticking to the idea of mindfully crafted products that are built for all of the the good times as we are heading out to go skate, surf and snowboard. And about the great lines that we dream about seek out and we dream about. In ry, the backcountry, on the resort, on lost roads, around our house. It’s those moments and memories that we create when we’re out riding. And if we focus on those things this brand will be here for another 25 years.”
