Best Powder Boards of 2016/2017 – CAPiTA Charlie Slasher Review

The crew at Transworld Snowboarding take some pow turns on the Capita Charlie Slasher as part of the 2016/17 Best Powder Boards good wood test.

The Charlie Slasher is a long-reigning ruler in the powder kingdom. We found it easy to ride with ample float and enough stability to bust through the choppy and sloppy conditions late in a storm cycle. Its tapered shape keeps the nose up and allows for laid-back turns. The larger nose is steadied by two carbon fiber slabs running from the front binding forward, which helped keep the board from chattering when hauling ass. The flat camber profile from the tail to the front binding blends into a large rockered section toward the nose. This gave the board effortless float and a forgiving ride.

We found the medium flex capable of loading up ollies and reactive mid-turn, in rough terrain. Hidden inside the core, down the centerline, lies an ABS stringer for those who wish to slice it into a splitboard without damaging the core. This year’s Slasher features a faster, tougher base material than the last version and more eco-friendly resin, too. For a predictable, directional deck that will keep you hovering over soft snow, Charlie is your man.
