Snowboarder John Jackson Joins Under Armour
Baltimore, MD (February 9, 2015) — Adding to its world-class roster of athletes, Under Armour today announced the addition of snowboarder John Jackson to its #UAMTN team. Jackson grew up riding Mammoth Mountain in California before becoming a pillar of big mountain freeriding worldwide. He has appeared in multiple films, ridden mountains and epic lines throughout the globe, and captured the elusive Rider of the Year and Video Part of the Year awards from Snowboarder and Transworld Snowboarding. Additionally, ESPN named Jackson “2010’s undisputed rider of the year.”
Jackson joins the Under Armour team with a multi-year partnership, alongside veterans and snowboarding icons Bjorn Leines, Kyle Clancy as well as multi-slope mavens Chas Guldemond, Dustin Craven and Tyler Nicholson. Together, these athletes will be critical in building upon Under Armour’s legacy of innovation and developing state-of-the-art outdoor performance gear.
“There are many new heights I want to reach in snowboarding,” said Jackson. “I’m very happy to team up with a company who is committed to technology, design, and to making athletes better. I am beyond stoked to be able to be working with one of the world’s most innovative brands.”
The snowboarder’s notable action sports career highlights include film appearances in Brain Farm’s That’s It, That’s All and The Art of Flight, and Forum’s Forum or Against ‘Em and Forever. In 2012, he joined his brother, Eric Jackson, in the Brothers on the Run series, which documented the riders’ adventure driving 15,000 miles from Alaska to the southern tip of Chile.
“John isn’t just another all-star athlete,” said Steve Metcalf, Director of Marketing, Under Armour. “He’s an all-star personality who lives a full, four-season life. He rides with enthusiasm, grit and a commitment that only the best can bring to the table. He’s a perfect match for the Under Armour brand ethos and we look forward to working with him in 2015 and beyond.”
