RIP Shawn “Barney” Barron – 1970-2015

Santa Cruz surfer Shawn “Barney” Barron died on May 5, 2015 of an apparent heart attack. Barron was known for his progressive surfing and high performance personality. As a member of the famed “westsiders” surf crew in Santa Cruz, Barron came of age in the 1990s and helped define a style of surfing that inspired a generation.
